Meghan Dombkowski (Sagaponack, N.Y.) scored her first goal of the season in Nichols College's 6-1 loss at Endicott Wednesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) field hockey action.
Dombkowski also picked up a pair of defensive saves while senior
Nicole Simeone (Ashland, Mass.) registered an assist her the goal. Senior
Molly Melanson (Simsbury, Conn.) stopped 21 shots in net for Nichols.
Junior Ashleigh Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) recorded six points on two goals and two assists while senior Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine) and freshman Maggie Layo (Sandwich, Mass.) each potted two goals for Endicott.
Dombkowski gave Nichols a 1-0 lead with a shot from the top of the circle off a penalty corner 19:20 into the contest. The Gulls tied the score seven minutes later, then went ahead for good on Sawchuck's 19th goal of the season at 27:06.
Endicott outshot the Bison 17-2 in the second half and scored four times – including three goals in a span of 9:28 – as Allen scored twice while both Layo and Sawchuck also found the back of the net.
Sophomore goalie Checka Ventura (Lawrence, Mass.) recorded two saves to earn the win for Endicott.
The Bison (3-14, 1-10 CCC) conclude their season on Saturday against Salve Regina at Vendetti Field at 11 a.m. The Gulls (15-3, 9-2 CCC) host Gordon Saturday at 11 a.m.
