CASTLETON, Vt. – Juniors
Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) and
Talia Hohmann (Marina, Calif.) scored in the same game for the third-time this season in a 6-2 loss to Castleton in Eastern College Athleic College (ECAC) Women's East action Saturday afternoon at Spartan Arena.
The Spartans (11-7-1, 6-3-1 ECACE) were led by Brie Narodway (North Smithfield, R.I.), who picked up a hat trick. Junior Taylor Skelton (Ely, Minn.), sophomore Anna Daniels (Falun, Sweden), and freshman Lisa Kilroy (Leominster, Mass.) also had goals for Castleton.
Junior
Tori Gianformaggio (Huntington Beach, Calif.) picked up a career-high in saves with 56 stops against a brutal 62 total shots from the Spartans. Sophomore Jess Cameron (Mt. Mellick, P.E.I.) picked up 17 saves along with her third win of the year.
Nichols got on the board with just 40 seconds remaining in the first period when Hohmann got the best of Cameron and put the puck in the back of the net. Murphy and classmate
Tawny Buelow (Willow Grove, Pa.) were credited with assists on the play.
The Bison tallied their next goal a mere 13 seconds following their first goal. This time it was Murphy putting one between the pipes with an assist from Hohmann and Buelow.
Nichols moves to 3-15-0 (2-8-0 ECAC East) and got off 19 shots on the game led by Murphy with five. Hohmann and sophomore
Julia Mastrototaro (Holden, Mass.) both picked up three shots apiece.
Nichols host Wesleyan (CT) Wednesday night at 8:10 p.m. at Levy Rink. Castleton travels to Holy Cross Friday at 7:00 p.m.
