WINCHENDON, Mass.- Junior
Tori Gianformaggio (Huntingdon Beach, Calif.) picked up 30 saves, however, the Nichols College women's hockey team fell to the Franklin Pierce Ravens 1-0 at Jason Ritchie Ice Arena Friday night.
The Ravens struck 1:46 into the first period when sophomore Hayley Arnold (Barre, Vt.) took a shot from the left point that skipped through traffic and found its way into the net. Senior Jamie Wiley (Cape Vincent, N.Y.) and sophomore Samantha Bureau (Ottawa, Ontario) were credited with assists on the play.
The Bison were outshot after the first two periods 15-11. Both teams produced their game highs in shots in the third period, however, Franklin Pierce drastically outshot Nichols 16-7.
The Bison were led by junior
Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) with four shots on goal and junior
Kerri Nadeau (Chepachet, R.I.) with three.
Franklin Pierce was led in the shot category by sophomore Karsyn Baker (Detroit, Mich.) with eight and her classmate Michaela Faia (Malden, Mass.) with five.
Freshman goaltender Noelle White (Corona, Calif.) moves to 6-2-0 after picking up 18 stops in her second shutout of the season.
The Bison (3-9-0) travel to New London, Conn. to take on Connecticut College Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. The Ravens travel to Plymouth State tomorrow for a 2:00 p.m. puck drop.
