MANCHESTER, N.H. – Junior Tori Gianformaggio (Huntington Beach, Calif.) collected 49 saves, however, the Bison fell in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) action Friday afternoon to St. Anselm 3-0 at Thomas F. Sullivan Arena.
The Bison dip to 0-2-0, 0-1-0 while the Hawks run their record to 4-1-0, 2-0-0.
Saint Anselm jumped on the board first 7:54 into the game when senior Courtney Winters (Swampscott, Mass.) carried the puck up the left side of the ice before cutting into the near circle and flicking a pass to the far post where freshman Alison Quinn (Canton, Mass.) was waiting to put the puck into the back of the net.
Quinn doubled the lead at 12:12 of the second period when she collected the rebound off a shot from sophomore Sarah Geisinger (Willoughby, Ohio) and put it past Gianformaggio to make it 2-0. Winters was credited with her second assist of the game on the play.
The best opportunity on the offensive side for the Bison came towards the end of the second period when junior
Grace Murphy (Montclair, Va.) slashed through the defense and fired off a tough shot from an awkward angle, however junior goaltender Lindsey Brown (Mounds View, Minn.) made the save.
The Hawks expanded their lead to 3-0 at 9:33 of the third stanza when senior Jacqueline Bouchie (Belmont, Mass.) slid a puck from right to left along the blue line for classmate Andi Foss (Elko, Minn.), who ripped a slapshot from the top of the left circle that ricocheted off a Nichols defender and into the net at the far post. Winters initiated the sequence with a pass to Bouchie from right boards.
Murphy led all Bison with three shots on the evening. Junior
Alyssa Bufis (Linden, N.J.) and freshman
Kara Donati (Saugus, Mass.) both had two shots apiece.
Brown stopped all 10 shots she faced while Saint Anselm outshot Nichols 52-10 for the game.

Wil Brown. "St. Anselm is a very good team, and if we can keep the goal out of our net, we give ourselves a chance."
The Bison will travel to play an ECAC East match against University of Massachusetts-Boston tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 p.m. St. Anselm will host conference rival Manhattanville tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
