DUDLEY, Mass. - The Nichols College men's basketball team dropped an 81-65 contest to Gordon College in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center.

Matt Langadas (Casco, Maine) led the Bison (9-7, 4-5 CCC) with 13 points while junior
Ryan Sheehan (North Attleboro, Mass.) dropped in nine points. Senior

Gustave Koumare (Harlem, N.Y.) each scored eight points for Nichols, which was outrebounded 43-28.
Freshman Hans Miersma (Whitinsville, Mass.) led five Fighting Scots student-athletes in double figures with a game-high 17 points to go along with a game-high 13 rebounds as they improved to 11-5 (6-3 CCC) with the win. Gordon shot 54 percent from the field (32-of-59) and rattled in 14 of its16 free throw attempts (88 percent). The Fighting Scots scored 48 of their 81 points in the paint.
The visitors raced out to a 21-11 lead behind six points from senior David Dempsey (Wallingford, Conn.) and four points each from Miersma and sophomore Taylor Bajema (Whitinsville, Mass.). Nichols cut the deficit to three at the break (41-38) as Koumare scored eight points off the bench while Sheehan netted seven. Bajema paced the Fighting Scots with 10.
In the second half, Gordon scored 25 of the first 36 points to open up a 66-49 lead with 9:27 on the clock. Five points from junior
Sam Horning (Falmouth, Maine) helped trim the Bison's deficit to 11 at 71-60 with 4:36 remaining before a 9-2 run by the Fighting Scots pushed the lead to 18 (80-62) with under three to play.
Dempsey finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals while his younger brother, Jason, added 12 points and nine rebounds. Bajema finished the afternoon with 13 points and four assists.
Nichols committed just 12 turnovers while forcing 17, but shot 38 percent from the field – including 6-of-24 from behind the arc (25 percent). Horning led the Bison with six rebounds.
The Bison return to action on Tuesday with a 5:30 p.m. home contest against Curry. Gordon hosts Western New England Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
