MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Wesleyan built a comfortable 3-0 lead over visiting and under-manned Nichols in women's ice hockey action, but the Bison rallied for two goals in the final 10 minutes and pressured the Cardinals with their goalie pulled for the final 1:10 of the contest. Still Wesleyan hung on for a 3-2 victory to remain unbeaten against Nichols in five all-time meetings with a 4-0-1 record. Wesleyan is back on the ice Fri., Dec. 7 with a visit to Salve Regina while Nichols doesn't play again until Fri., Jan. 4 against Potsdam in a tournament hosted by St. Michael's.
 
A first-period goal on a smart wrister by sophomore Alicia White with two minutes left spotted Wesleyan the lead for good as the Cardinals outshot the Bison, who were playing with just 10 skaters, 18-1 over the opening 20 minutes. While the shots nearly evened up in the second stanza, 10-9 in Wesleyan's favor, the scoring was the same as Wesleyan added to its lead when sophomore Lilah Fones posted her second marker of the season as she slid the puck under Nichols junior keeper Francesca Palazzo at 10:26. Palazzo finished the game with 37 stops.
 
When sophomore Cara Jankowski converted a sophomore Jordan Schildhaus pass into Wesleyan's third goal, and her first of the campaign, with a rising shot into the upper right corner at 3:52 of the final period, Wesleyan had a three-goal cushion. But Nichols got one back when sophomore Kerri Nadeau moved past the Wesleyan defense and beat freshman goalie Laura Corcoran over her right shoulder at 11:30, making it 3-1. Then at 18:50, the Bison got within a goal as the first goal of the season by senior Stacey McGrath made it 3-2. Nichols pressured for the tying goal with its goalie on the bench, but the Cardinals withstood the attack to preserve the victory.
 
Freshman Corinne Rivard played the opening 30 minutes of the contest for Wesleyan, making seven saves without allowing a goal. Corcoran made eight stops during her 30 minutes between the pipes, yielding both Bison tallies.
