FOXBORO, Mass. – The Nichols College men's ice hockey team began the season 2-0-0 for the first time since 2008-2009 as the Bison defeated Division II Stonehill, 6-1, on Tuesday night in a non-conference game at Foxboro Sports Center. The Skyhawks even out at 2-2-0 in the setback.
Senior

Dylan Woodring (Rogue River, Ore.) turned away 34 shots as he improved to 2-0-0.
For the Skyhawks, freshman Richard Harris (Grand Island, N.Y.) scored his third goal of the season as senior Christopher Gorovitz (Framingham, Mass.) and rookie Robbie Dorgan (Ossining, N.Y.) each recorded an assist. A trio of netminders saw action for the hosts as sophomore Chris Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass.) turned away 14 shots as he moved to 2-2-0 in the defeat. Freshman Matthew Palella (Chicago, Ill.) did not allow a goal on 18 shots in 33:10 of relief while sophomore Will Husic (Glastonbury, Conn.) made one save in the final 4:14.
Greiner scored his first goal of the season as he teamed with Jackson and Bufis for a tally at 1:13 in the first. Junior
Greg Strootman (Aston, Pa.) deposited his team-leading fourth goal, and second game-winner, of the season at 6:50 with a low wrist shot into the lower right corner of the net on a feed from Kohn who was stationed in the right faceoff circle.
Sophomore
Joe Sposit (Cleveland, Ohio) made it 3-0 at 14:38 with a wrist shot over Tasiopoulos' glove into the upper left corner of the net with help from Kohn. Beasley capped the four-goal effort in the first period blasting a one-timer from the slot on feeds from Bufis and sophomore
Kyle Shapiro (Amber, Pa.) to capitalize on a 5-on-3 opportunity.
Nichols struck quickly in the second period. Greiner teamed with Jackson and sophomore
Evan Jones (Farmington Hills, Mich.) to put the Bison on top 5-0 at 1:26 in the frame. A minute and 10 seconds later, first-year
Paul Prescott (Oakdale, Minn.) setup a goal by Beasley for the sixth Nichols tally of the night.
The contest remained 6-0 in favor of the Bison until 7:00 in the third when Harris knocked home a rebound to put the Skyhawks on the board with a power play goal.
Each team went 1-for-7 on the power play while the Bison outshot Stonehill 39-35.
Nichols hosts Salve Regina on Saturday, November 10 at 7:40 p.m. in the team's home and ECAC Northeast opener at Levy Rink in Burrillville, R.I. The Skyhawls travel to Plymouth State University on Thursday, November 8 at 6:00 p.m.
