NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Senior
Emily Widdison (Greenfield, Mass.) scored her team-leading 16th goal of the season for Nichols College, which dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to UMass Dartmouth in non-conference field hockey action Thursday night at Cressy Field.
Sophomore
Molly Melanson (Simsbury, Conn.) made six saves in goal for the Bison (7-4), who entered the contest having won three-straight and five of six. The Corsairs (8-3), meanwhile, ran their win streak to five behind junior Devon Herlihy's (Stratham, N.H.) overtime winner 35 seconds into the extra session.
Widdison opened the scoring 7:11 into the first with an unassisted marker. The Corsairs answered back less than four minutes later as Allen found the back of the net off a pass from freshman Cory Connolly (Duxbury, Mass.). She has goals in four-consecutive contests.
The Corsairs outshot the Bison, 16-9, and held a 15-1 edge in penalty corners. Sophomore goalkeeper Lauren O'Brien (Rochester, Mass.) made three saves to earn the win for UMD. Sophomore

Nichols visits Endicott Saturday in a key Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) contest at 1 p.m. UMass Dartmouth hosts Southern Maine on Saturday.
