Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to Manhattanville, 4-1

Palazzo collects 50 saves

Box Score RYE, N.Y. (Jan. 14) – First-year Grace Murphy scored a goal as Nichols women's ice hockey completed a home-and-home weekend series with a 4-1 defeat to ECAC East opponent Manhattanville. Murphy has tallied three scores in the past four games.

The Valiants (7-6-2, 5-2-1) sounded the siren first as Katie Little netted a goal 12:37 into the contest.

Little scored again with a shorthanded tally at the 4:27 mark of the second period. Murphy, just released from the penalty box, netted a breakaway goal that was assisted by Talia Hohmann at 6:32 to cut the deficit to 2-1. With nine seconds left on the scoreboard Little completed a hat-trick on another shorthanded goal.

Manhattanville's Mary Rose Morrison tacked on an empty net goal to close out the scoring.

Valiant goalie Emy Cote stopped 19 shots as Francesca Palazzo collected 50 saves on the evening.

Nichols finished 0-for-3 on the power play while Manhattanville went 0-for-4.

The Bison (4-10-1, 5-2-1) travel to Saint Michael's on Friday to face the Purple Knights at 4:00 p.m.
