Men's Ice Hockey Downed by Wentworth, 9-5

Sposit scores a goal and records a pair of assists

Box Score HARRISVILLE, R.I. (Dec. 4) – Wentworth Rookies Mike Domsodi and Seric Kapp each recorded a pair of goals in a 9-5 win over host Nichols in ECAC Northeast men's ice hockey action on Sunday night at June Rockwell Levy Rink. With the win the Leopards improve to 6-3-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in the league as Nichols slips to 1-7-1 overall and 1-3-0 in the loop.
 
The Bison and Leopards each struck twice in the first 10 minutes of the contest. Domsodi eluded a defender to pot the first tally of the game with a low shot just 33 seconds in. Just under two minutes later, sophomore Lawton McCracken took a shot from the point to beat the Nichols goalie. McCracken was aided by freshman Sean McLaughlin and sophomore Fred Gervasi.
 
Nichols responded as Josh DeLoach snuck the puck past the Wentworth netminder on the low glove side to put the hosts on the board at 3:40. Sophomore Greg Strootman and rookie Louie Educate each helped on the marker. Junior Danny Greiner knotted the game at 2-2 with a deflection in front of the net at 7:17 off passes from sophomore Blake Bishop and senior Andrew Letellier.

Wentworth went ahead once more at 10:55 as sophomore Andrew Yarber brought the puck into the corner before sending the pass to rookie Kevin Crowe for the one-timer above the keeper's glove. Freshman Seric Kapp also had a stick in the tally.

With an extra man advantage, the Leopards scored 32 seconds into the middle period as rookie Mike Novella knocked home a rebound to the lower left corner of the net following a pair of shots by Domsodi.

Kapp deflected in a shot taken by junior Shaun Jameson at 2:26. With 11:11 left in the period Domsodi forwarded the puck to senior Skylur Jameson who sent a pass from behind the net to Shade. The forward then scored the power play marker from the middle of the right circle to the high glove side.

Nichols rallied back with goals from first-year Joe Sposit and Educate at 11:26 and 13:04, respectively. Sposit one-timed a feed from junior Wil Brown following a dish from rookie Tyler Marek for a power play tally as Educate connected on a backhanded shot that found the top right corner of the net. Brown and Sposit helped setup the fourth Bison goal.

Wentworth scored two more times to finish the period. At 17:06 Skylur Jameson found the back of the net as he took a point blank shot aimed at the high glove side. Shade and Domsodi each aided the Leopard goal. With 2:05 remaining in the second sophomore Patrick Rice planted a shorthanded goal off his own rebound to best the Nichols goaltender.

In the closing period Wentworth lit the lamp at 4:42 as junior Read Rushing sent a pass to classmate Dylan Barbieiri who took a slapshot that was deflected in by Kapp.
 
Nichols responded seven seconds later as senior Andrew Ella capitalized on a Sposit shot that hit the post as he connected with a slapshot that went into the vacant net. Sposit was fed by Greiner prior to the initial shot.

Junior Mike Jarboe picked up the win as he stopped 32 shots for the Leopards. Sophomore Dylan Woodring made 12 stops before yielding to first-year David Lamb who collected 27 saves in just over 37 minutes of action.

Wentworth finished the contest converting 2-of-6 power play chances while the Bison took advantage once in seven tries.

The Bison complete a two-game homestand on Wednesday as Franklin Pierce is in town for an 8:10 p.m. tilt while Wentworth hosts cross-town rival UMass Boston on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
