Louie Educate netted two of the three goals for the Bison en route to being placed on the Skidmore Invitational all-tournament team.
The Golden Eagles improve to 2-6-2 while Nichols dips to 1-5-1.
Brockport held a slight 8-7 edge on shots in the first period of play that ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
In the second stanza the Bison were led by Educate as he lit the lamp twice to give the squad a 2-0 advantage. The rookie's first marker came on a power play at 3:36 with help from junior
Wil Brown and sophomore
Greg Strootman. Educate struck again at with another power play tally at 14:20 off assists from classmates
Joe Sposit and
Tyler Marek. With 3:30 left in the period Cody deposited the first power play score for the Golden Eagles. Exactly a minute later freshman Troy Polino knotted the game at 2-2.
The Golden Eagles pulled away in the third period. Cody began the scoring with an unassisted shorthanded goal at 2:08. Sophomore Steve Sachman took advantage of an extra-man opportunity to put Brockport up 4-2 at 7:27. With 10 minutes remaining senior
Andrew Ella bested the Brockport netminder with aid from sophomore Josh Deloach.
Cody then recorded the hat-trick to begin a flurry of goals with 2:10 left in the game. Polino added to the Golden Eagle offense with a tally 43 seconds later followed by a goal by junior Colby Spooner at 19:21.
For the contest, Brockport outshot the Bison 37-21 as each team capitalized on a pair of power play chances. The Golden Eagles also registered a shorthanded goal.
Rookie Aaron Green picked up the win in his first start of the season for Brockport as he made 18 stops. Senior
Jacob Rinn was charged with the loss while collecting 30 saves.
Nichols ventures to Curry on Thursday night. Faceoff at the Max Ulin Rink in Milton, Mass. is slated for 7:35 p.m.
