Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 27) – Junior midfielder
Emily Widdison tallied four goals, including the game-winner at 68:15, to lead Nichols to a 5-4 come from behind victory over Western New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match on Thursday at snowy Golden Bear Stadium.
Nichols improves to 9-7 overall with 5-4 mark in CCC play to clinch the third seed in the CCC tournament. The Golden Bears slip to 4-15 with a 2-7 conference record.
WNE jumped out to an early lead as freshman midfielder Whitney Fraleigh put home the opening goal at 6:44. Sophomore forward Sarah Race made it 2-0 at 19:49 with an unassisted goal.
Widdison notched her first goal of the evening at 23:46 to get the Bison on the board.
After taking a 2-1 lead into halftime; junior forward Caitlin Foster scored the next two goals to stretch the WNE lead to 4-1.
The Bison cut the lead to 4-2 on a goal by freshman forward

Widdison then took control, scoring the next three goals in a 10 minute span to lead Nichols to victory. She notched the game-winner at 68:15 on an assist from freshman forward

Molly Melanson recorded seven saves to earn the win in the cage. WNE freshman goalie Emily Mastrapaolo made six stops in the contest.
The Golden Bears will close out the regular season by traveling to Gordon on Saturday (Oct. 29) at 1:00 p.m. in CCC play. The Bison will close out conference play by hosting Endicott on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
