Conn College Gets Past Women's Hockey, 4-1

Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. (Jan. 4) --The Connecticut College women's hockey team scored twice in a span of 2:41 in the second period and went on to defeat Nichols College 4-1 in a non-conference game played at Dayton Arena Tuesday night.

The Camels even their mark at 5-5 with the triumph, while the Bison slip to 2-9 with the loss.

Courtney Dumont netted her team-leading seventh and eight goals of the season to lead the hosts. Ashleigh Kowtoniuk chipped in with a goal and an assist and Celia Medeiros potted her second goal of the season.

Senior captain Brigid O'Gorman distributed two assists for the Camels. Emily LaRosa (Weymouth, Mass.) provided the offense for the visitors with a second period marker for the Bison.

Amy Leichliter stopped 19 shots to earn the victory for the Camels. Francesca Palazzo (Bernardston, Mass.) made 35 saves in the setback for visitors.

After Dumont opened the scoring with a goal at 14:28 of the second period, Kowtoniuk made it a 2-0 game with 2:51 remaining. Katelyn Driscoll and Paige Murray assisted on the eventual game-winner.

LaRosa closed out the second period scoring with a shorthanded marker at 19:19. But in the third, the Camels re-gained their two goal advantage at 3:08 when Dumont scored on a re-direction of a shot by O'Gorman. Olivia Farrell also assisted on the score.

Medeiros closed out the scoring with an insurance goal at 18:52.
