Robidoux Nets 1,000th Point in 62-48 Win at WNEC

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Jan. 27) – Senior guard Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) scored her 1,000th career point as the Nichols College women's basketball game defeated Western New England College, 62-48, to earn their first victory in The Commonwealth Coast Conference play Thursday evening at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. Senior forward Jessica Nelson (North Providence, RI) recorded a double-double with 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Bison, who improve to 7-10 overall and 1-5 in TCCC play after snapping a five-game skid.

Robidoux converted the first basket of the game to reach the milestone and finished the game with a total of 13 points and eight rebounds.

The Bison took a 32-20 lead into the halftime break. Western New England battled back and held a 45-41 advantage with just under seven minutes remaining; as the Bison closed out the game on a 21-3 run to secure the victory.

Nichols held a 49-35 edge on the boards; and enjoyed an 18-6 advantage in second chance points.
Western New England was led by senior forward Kelly McCormick with 11 points and nine rebounds. Freshman guard Ali Pessolano contributed nine points off the bench.

Western New England (10-7, 2-4 TCCC) will travel to the University of New England in a TCCC contest on Saturday (Jan. 29) at 1:00 p.m. Nichols returns to action to host Curry on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in conference play.
