Box Score DUDLEY, Mass. (Dec. 11) – Nichols College received at least one point from every player on the roster in a 67-42 victory over visiting Johnson & Wales in non-conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon. The Bison close the semester at 4-5 overall. Johnson & Wales drops its fifth-straight game and falls to 1-5.
Senior guard
Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) scored 13 points and dished out a team-high eight assists to lead the Bison. Sophomore guard
Jamy Ferris (Windsor, Mass.) added 12 points and classmate
Kristina Lindgren (Sturbridge, Mass.) scored 10 points to go with a team-high seven rebounds.
Senior guard Morgan Wilson scored a game-high 14 points and nearly missed a double-double with nine rebounds before fouling out. Sophomore Ayla Walter added 10 points.
After Wilson hit a jumper to give the Wildcats a 6-5 lead just over two minutes into the game, Nichols took over, going on a 8-0 run to take command of the game. The Bison never looked back and led by as many as 20 in the opening frame despite a 6:08 span in the latter half of the frame in which neither team could hit a bucket.
Nichols extended its lead to as many as 31 in the second half, but saw the Wildcats chip away briefly late in the frame, bringing it to within 22 on the back end of a pair of free throws by alter with 1:32 remaining. Nichols'
Andrea Ferris (Windsor, Mass.) capped the complete scoring effort with a three-pointer in the final minute.
The Bison commanded a 47-35 rebounding advantage, including a 36-26 lead on the defensive glass and dished out 20 assists on the night. Both teams finished with 23 turnovers, but the Bison parlayed the Wildcats' into 19 points. The Nichols bench outscored that of Johnson & Wales, 24-2, including a 15-0 margin in the second half.
Nichols is idle until the New Year when the Bison kick off 2011 in the Bahamas at the Goombay Shootout against Colby-Sawyer on January 3. Johnson & Wales hosts UMass Dartmouth Tuesday at 7 p.m.
