SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Oct. 2) – The Nichols College field hockey team remained undefeated in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action with a 2-0 victory at Western New England College Saturday night at Golden Bear Stadium.

Junior forward Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) tallied the first goal for the Bison, she was assisted by sophomore forward Barbara Roy (Springfield, Mass.) at 16:15. She currently leads Nichols with nine goals on the year.

Roy would later at an insurance goal at 59:17 to seal the victory, her eighth goal of the season.

Nichols' junior goaltender Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) picked up the win in net.

Western New England College freshman goalkeeper Brittney O'Brien made eight saves.

Junior defenders Janelle Lawton and Kathleen Jasinski each contributed a defensive save.

The Bison improve to 8-2 overall and remain unbeaten (4-0) in conference play, the Golden Bears fall to 4-7 with a 2-2 conference mark.

Western New England College returns to action on Wednesday as they travel to Gordon for a 4:00 p.m. conference game. Nichols travels to Mount Holyoke Tuesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference tilt.
