Field Hockey Blanks Salve Regina, 2-0

NEWPORT, R.I. (Sept. 12) – The Nichols College field hockey team improved to 4-0 Saturday afternoon, handing Salve Regina a 2-0 loss in the The Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for both squads. Reigning TCCC Defensive Player of the Week Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) made 13 saves in net.

 

Sophomore forward Lauren Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) scored her fourth goal of the season on a penalty corner opportunity seven minutes into the game. Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.), made it a 2-0 advantage for the visitors just before the half, knocking in an assist from Eileen Clinton (Londonderry, N.H.).

 

The Bison were out-cornered 22 to 13, but Forand came up big in the game.  Devin Eppley stopped 14 Nichols' shots on the opposite end.

 

Nichols takes a break from conference action to host Mt. Holyoke at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
