Field Hockey Blanks Worcester State, 3-0

WORCESTER, Mass. (Oct. 28) – The Nichols College field hockey team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 victory at Worcester State Thursday evening. Sophomore Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead the Bison to a 15-3 overall record.

Nichols, which earned a share of the The Commonwealth Coast Conference regular-season title with a 7-1 conference record, is the third seed in the TCCC championship tournament and will host sixth-seeded Gordon College on Saturday at 11 a.m. on Vendetti Field.

Correia netter her 12th goal of the year in the 23rd minute to get Nichols on the board, and the Bison carried the one-goal lead into halftime on a 7-4 shot advantage in the frame.

Junior Eileen Clinton (Londonderry, N.H.) added an unassisted score in the 43rd minute before Emily Widdison (Greenfield, Mass.) assisted Correia's second of the game a shade over eight minutes later. Correia leads the Bison with 13 goals on the year.

Nichols goalkeeper Krista-Jean Forand (Plymouth, Mass.) made two first-half saves for her 14th win of the season, while the Lancers' Katherine Masterjohn sook the loss with six saves.
