DUDLEY, Mass. (Oct. 12) – The Nichols College field hockey team is participating in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month by hosting a Play 4 the Cure event Thursday as the undefeated Bison take on Fitchburg State at 7 p.m. on Vendetti Field for senior night. The Bison encourage all fans to wear pink to the game to support the cause.
The field hockey team will be selling pink wristbands for a minimum $1 donation to raise money to donate to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the American Cancer Society. The teams will start the game with a pink game ball and will don special insignia during the game to show support for Play 4 the Cure. Breast cancer awareness information will also be available, and donations will be accepted.
Nichols is joining collegiate, high school, middle school and club teams from all over the country with corporate support from Longstreth Women's Sports to raise funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Since Tina Reinprecht started the Play 4 the Cure movement in 2006, over $11,000 has been donated to Susan G. Komen.
