Box Score WESTON, Mass. – The Nichols College field hockey team defeated Regis, 6-0, Saturday afternoon to improve to 2-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference play. The Bison scored six goals on 11 shots in net in the game, led by a two goals from Jackie Dwyer (Enfield, Conn.) and a goal and a pair of assists from Courtney Flagg (Spofford, N.H.).
MaryKate Frodema (Springfield, Mass.) put the Bison on the board early with her fourth goal of the season 3:35 into the game. Lauren Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) put Nichols up, 2-0, less than 10 minutes later with an unassisted tally.
Flagg capped the first half's scoring with her first tally of the season, assisted by Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.), to give Nichols a 3-0 lead.
Dwyer potted her first of two second-half tallies at 52:15, assisted by Flagg, and then converted again from Flagg just over five minutes later to put the Bison up, 5-0. Alexa Boucher (West Springfield, Mass.) capped the scoring with her first of the season with less than three minutes left in the game.
MaryKate Bednarz (Springfield, Mass.) made five saves to earn her fifth win and first shutout of the season. Kristen Tavares made six stops for Regis.
Nichols is back in action on Tuesday, September 30, in a 4 p.m. game at WPI. The Bison return home to celebrate homecoming by hosting Salve Regina on Saturday, October 4, at 10 a.m.
