Bison End Season with 21-6 Loss at UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- University of New England midfielder Ashley MacDonald '08 (Billerica, Mass.) scored eight goals to tie a school single-game record in the Nor'easters' 21-6 win over the Nichols College Bison in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.

The win wraps up the seventh seed in the upcoming conference tournament for the Nor'easters (7-10, 4-6 TCCC), who will travel to second-seeded Roger Williams University for an opening-round match Tuesday.  The Bison wrap up their season at 4-12 overall, 1-9 in TCCC play.

UNE would seize control early, scoring seven consecutive goals over the opening 10:43.  MacDonald tallied the first four scores of the match and added one more to help fuel the Nor'easters' 7-0 start.  UNE led 15-2 at the half.

MacDonald notched three second-half goals to finish with eight, tying the single-game record Hope Lavigne set April 7, 2002 versus Colby-Sawyer College.  She also added three assists.

Amanda Barker '09 (Gloucester, Mass.), Amanda Chase '08 (Danvers, Mass.), Carlie Brigham '09 (Derry, N.H.) and Sam Robinson '08 (Loudon, N.H.) scored two goals apiece for the Nor'easters.  Starting goalie Jackie Price '10 (Billerica, Mass.) stopped four shots in the first half to earn the win between the pipes.

Stephanie Tenczar '08 (West Springfield, Mass.) scored four of Nichols' six goals.  Goalie MaryKate Bednarz '10 (Springfield, Mass.) registered 15 saves.
