Wellesley, Mass.- The Nichols women's lacrosse team earned a dominating 25-3 victory over TCCC foe Regis on Tuesday, improving the Bison to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the conference. The team's 25 goals breaks a school record for goals scored in a game as the previous record stood at 21. Leading the way for Nichols was junior Jessica Porter (Melrose, Mass.) with five goals and two assists and senior Jackie Henderson (Portsmouth, R.I.), who added four goals and a game-high five assists.
Nichols scored 13 goals in the first half and added 12 more in the second as it out-shot the Pride 46-12. The Bison held a 5-0 lead by the 3:28 mark and went on to an 8-0 lead before Regis finally got on the board 12:20 into the half. By halftime, Nichols held a 13-2 advantage. The second half was much of the same as Porter opened things up with two straight goals for the Bison. They went on register 11 unanswered goals.
Sophomore Lindsey Barbo (Natick, Mass.) scored four goals while freshman Kensey Marsland (Ware, Mass.) and junior Ashley Bell (Mansfield, Mass.) tacked on three each. Senior Stephanie Tenczar (West Springfield, Mass.) recorded three goals while junior Sasha Pugliese (Watertown, Mass.) added one. Tenczar also posted three assists in the win. Sophomore Denis Cardello (North Babylon, N.Y.) chipped in with one goal and one assist while junior Sarah Levesque (Ludlow, Mass.) rounded out the scoring with one goal. In net, sophomore MaryKate Bednarz (Springfield, Mass.) posted seven saves.
Nichols will play New England College at Vendetti Field this Saturday at 3 p.m.
