MILTON, Mass.-
The Nichols College baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader in its TCCC opener on Tuesday at Curry. The Bison fell in game one 10-1 while the Colonels took a 2-1 decision in the night cap. Freshman Mathew Whitman went 3-6 in the two games while senior Jamie Kimberly gave up just one earned run in six innings on the mound in game two.

Curry held a 5-0 lead by the end of the third as the Bison struggled at the plate. Nichols scored its lone run in the seventh off a single by Whitman. In all, the Bison managed just five hits to Curry's 12. Junior Andrew Besegai fell to 0-2 on the year as he allowed ten hits in four innings of work.

Game two proved to be a pitchers' dual as Kimberly pitched three straight scoreless innings. A run in the first inning and another in the third proved to be enough for Curry, however, as Nichols again crossed the plate just once. Sophomore Robert Birkbeck's single allowed sophomore Alexander Montalto to score from second in the fifth.

Nichols is now 2-10 on the year while Curry improves to 8-1.
