Bison Fall to WNEC, 19-6

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
– Junior Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA) led a balanced attack with four goals as the Western New England College women's lacrosse team cruised to an easy 19-6 victory over visiting Nichols in its first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference contest Saturday morning
(March 15).

Senior Kaitlin Zangle (Wingdale, NY) and freshman Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) each added three goals as the Golden Bears improved their record to 3-2.

Twelve players scored points with senior Jillian Caracciolo (Burnt Hills, NY) contributing two goals and two assists. Seniors Kayte Devine (New Fairfield, CT) and Julianna Mulroy (Wellesley, MA) each chipped in with a pair of pairs and an assist.

Freshman Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) had a fine all-around performance with her first collegiate goal, two assists, eight draw controls, and five caused turnovers.

Freshmen Allison Breen (Ellington, CT) and Nicole Squadrito (Ellington, CT) also netted their first collegiate goals.

Western New England College scored the first 11 goals of the contest and led 11-1 at halftime. The Golden Bears held a commanding 53-16 advantage in shots.

Senior Stephanie Tenczar (West Springfield, M) led the Bison with three goals while senior Jacquelyn Henderson (Portsmouth, RI) scored twice. Sophomore Brittany McCue (Medford, MA) had a goal and assist.

Nichols, which also was playing its conference opener, is now 1-1.
