WORCESTER, Mass.- The Nichols men's lacrosse team fell to Division II opponent Assumption, 13-3, on Wednesday evening. The Bison, who have faced some tough competition early on, are now 0-3 on the season while Assumption is now 2-2. Nichols continues to get solid production from its freshmen as Ryan Pacific, Brian Gattie and Bradley O'Brien scored in the loss. Tim Ahern and Pacific recorded assists and freshman goalkeeper Justin Berrett posted 11 saves.
Pacific got Nichols on the board first with his third goal of the young season with 9:50 left in the first quarter. Assumption then scored three straight goals to head into the second quarter with a 3-1 lead. The Bison once again attacked first as Gattie netted his first collegiate goal at the 9:21 mark.
Assumption then broke the game open with nine straight goals to take a commanding 12-2 lead. O'Brien stopped Nichols scoring draught when he scored with 8:47 left in the final period. Assumption tacked on one more goal before the final buzzer for the 13-3 final.
The Bison struggled to get their shots on net as 12 of their 27 fell off the mark. The team will now take a two week break as their next game isn't scheduled until March 27.
