HARRISVILLE, R.I. – The Castleton State women's ice hockey team edged Nichols, 1-0, Friday afternoon in ECAC East action at June R. Levy Rink. Adrianna Riggio's (Buffalo, N.Y.) late first-period goal stood up as the game-winner, and netminder Kalla Robb (Manchester, N.H.) turned aside 40 shots to pick up her second shutout on the season.

 Nichols (0-6-0, 0-5-0 ECAC) held a commanding 40-14 shot advantage, including a 16-7 lead in the opening stanza, but the Spartans (2-5-0, 2-3-0 ECAC) capitalized at 17:41 of the first period when Riggio potted a goal on a two-on-one break with Amy Costa (Bristol, R.I.) after a chip-ahead pass from Denise Cardello (North Babylon, N.Y.).

Kayla Robidoux (Cumberland, R.I.) led Nichols with seven shots, including one off the faceoff late in the third when Nichols pulled netminder Melissa Mansfield (Medford, N.Y.) while on the power play for a six-on-four advantage. Mansfield posted 13 saves on the night.  

Nichols will look for its first win of the season at Norwich on Friday, December 5 at 7 p.m. Castleton travels to Holy Cross for a 2 p.m. game Saturday.
