NEW LONDON, N.H.- Colby-Sawyer's Dave Rosso (Wilmington, Vt.) scored 22 points and Will Clemmer (Windham, Maine) added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the first double-double of his career as the Chargers defeated Nichols 80-53 in TCCC men's basketball action Saturday afternoon.
Colby-Sawyer jumped in front early, opening the game on a 21-11 run and kept the visitors down by double digits for almost the entire first half. At halftime, the Chargers posted a 13 point lead, 33-20.
In the second half it was all Colby-Sawyer, as the Chargers opened up the half on a 17-9 run to put the Bison down by 21 with just over 13 minutes remaining in the game and held the Bison to 20 percent shooting in the half to cruise to the 27 point victory.
Combined, both teams committed 58 fouls. Colby-Sawyer also out-rebounded the Bison 60-44.
For the Chargers, Matt Lemieux (Manchester, N.H.) added eight points and two rebounds to his 10 assist performance while Duncan Szeliga added 13 rebounds and nine points in the victory. Junior Andrew Cousins (South Portland, Maine) added 12 points and five rebounds off the bench in the victory.
For Nichols, John Costello (Tolland, Conn.) was the only player to score in double figures, posting 12 points and seven rebounds before fouling out. Garret Bishop (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) added nine points while Chris Vallee (Fitchburg, Mass.) added eight points, six from the charity stripe.
Colby-Sawyer (8-7, 3-2 TCCC) returns to action next Thursday, Jan. 31 when they host Eastern Nazarene at 7:30 p.m. Nichols (5-11, 2-3 TCCC) will host Western New England with action set to begin at 8 p.m.
