Henniker, NH – New England College women's soccer used a two goal first half to lift them past the visiting Nichols College Bison 2-0 Saturday afternoon in Henniker.  The win improves the Pilgrims to 5-4-1 overall and 2-4-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC.)   The loss drops the Bison to 7-3-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the TCCC. 

NEC would get on the board early with Alexandria Sacco (Tewksbury, Mass.) heading in a corner from Debbie Lyons (Wilmington, Mass.) just 7:48 into the game.  The teams would battle back-and-forth through much of the first with the shots tied at seven each but NEC would strike just before halftime.  NEC's Audra Cyr (Rochester, N.H.) would net her first career goal scoring at the 43:14 mark assisted by midfielder Amy Searle (Sandwich, Mass.) putting the Pilgrims up 2-0 heading into halftime.  

The two teams would battle through a scoreless second half with the Bison out shooting the Pilgrims 7-5. Nichols would have an opportunity earning a penalty kick just minutes into the second half but the shot would go just wide of the net, keeping the Bison off the board. 

Picking up the shutout win in goal for the Pilgrims was Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, N.Y.) who finished with seven saves.  Splitting time in goal for Nichols College was Nicole Johnson (West Hampton, Mass.) and Sarah Levesque (Ludlow, Mass.) who each picked up three saves on the afternoon.

New England College will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 2 when they host conference opponent Anna Maria College at 4:00 p.m.  Nichols will return to the field on Tuesday, Oct. 2 when they host conference opponent Wentworth Institute of Technology at 4:00 p.m.
