Dudley, Mass- The Salve Regina Seahawks scored two goals in the second half to push past the Nichols Bison, 2-0, in TCCC men's soccer action on Friday evening at Vendetti Field. Freshman Jim Dean (Colonia, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal while senior Alex Clark (Ridgefield, Conn.) earned the assist and scored Salve's second goal. Nichols drops to 3-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the conference while the Seahawks improve to 5-3-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the TCCC.
Dean fired back the rebound he collected when Nichols keeper, sophomore Clayton Johnson (Williamstown, Mass.) made an incredible save at point blank range on a breakaway for Salve. Clark then gave the Seahawks some breathing room with 10:21 left to play when senior Jonathan Parkin (New Bedford, Mass.) fed him a lead pass up the far side of the field.
Overall, Nichols out-shot Salve 9-8 but only two went on net as sophomore Kurt Ginthwain (Tolland, Conn.) was their to make stops. Johnson recorded two saves for the Bison.
Nichols will look to break its two game losing skid on Thurday, Sept. 26 when it hosts Anna Maria for a 4 p.m. game.
