Healy Wins Johnson & Wales Invitational

Cranston, R.I. -- The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth golf team took first place at the Johnson & Wales University Invitational at The Cranston Club on Friday afternoon. UMD finished with a team score of 307 while host Johnson & Wales set a school record with a 308 en route to a second place finish. Endicott recorded a 309 while Rhode Island College notched a fourth place finish with a score of 310. Medalist honors went to Chris Healy of Nichols College after shooting a par 71 at the 6,493 yard course.

Johnson & Wales freshman Steve LeDonne (Rehoboth, Mass.) paced the Wildcats with a fourth place finish after shooting a 75 while fellow rookie Ryan Myers (Foxboro, Mass.) notched an eighth place finish for the Wildcats with a 76. Senior Brandon Allen (Brooksville, Maine) finished tied for twelfth with a 78 on the afternoon while senior Dustin Bride (Manchester, Conn.) rounded out the JWU scorers, placing 15th with a 79.

The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, October 6th and 7th when they travel to the ECAC Championship.
