Box Score The Nichols College men's soccer team was bumped out of the Commonwealth Coast Conference playoffs by a 2-1 score at top-seeded Roger Williams on Tuesday. The Bison took a 1-0 lead just 12:28 into the game as senior
Kalen Obregon (Enfield, CT) settled a loose ball and blasted a shot past RWU keeper Kevin Deegan (Seymour, CT) for his first career goal. The Hawks went on to score the equalizer 2:09 before halftime and the game-winner midway through the final half. Nichols closes out the season 6-12-1 overall and 3-7-1 in CCC play.
Evan Solis (Seymour, CT) tallied the equalizer in the 43rd minute for Roger Williams. Dan Saccoccio (Holtsville, NY) started the play with a corner kick and Rich Reddington (Naugatuck, CT) headed it down to Solis who then knocked it in for the goal. Both players were credited with assists. Kevin Canty (Proctor, VT) tallied the game winner in the 65th minute on an assist by Saccoccio.
The Hawks out-shot Nichols 12-7 but neither team was able to get many quality chances as sophomore Stephen Mochun Jr. (Sutton, MA) made three saves for the Bison while Deegan posted two for the Hawks.
Nichols doubled its number of victories from last season, despite losing seven games by just one goal this season. Freshman T.J. McManus (Northborough, MA) led the Bison with six goals. Senior Brian Roche (Bolton, MA) tied McManus with 14 points off five goals and a team-high four assists.
