The Nichols men's golf team closed out a spectacular fall season with a ninth overall finish at the annual NEIGA Championship at The Captains Golf Course in Cape Cod. The Bison, who totaled a 626, finished second among the Division II and III schools competing, beating out a number of Division I programs. The team's ninth overall finish is its best finish in history at the NEIGA Championship. Freshman
Pat Pio (Somers, CT) tied for 28th individually out of a total of 215 as he shot a 76 in round one and a 78 in round two.
Sophomore Chris Brock (Pomfret Center, CT) tied for 31st overall with a 77 in round one and a 78 in round two. Senior Ryan Kettle (Coventry, RI) tied for 45th overall as he shot an 80 in round one and a 77 in round two. Sophomore Chris Healy (Charlton, MA) tied for 75th overall, firing an 85 in round one but bouncing back with a team-best 76 in round two. Rounding things out was senior Nick Slocum (Warwick, RI), who tied for 154th overall, with his scores of 84 and 87 in rounds one and two, respectively.
Nichols finished the fall season 5-0, its second straight undefeated fall season under Head Coach Al Kubicki. The team won the Blazers Invitational hosted by Elms College on Oct. 4 and followed up with a third place finish, the school's best two-day finish, at the ECAC Championships on Oct. 7-8. At the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, Nichols finished second behind host Endicott while Brock was the individual medalist with his top score of 75. The Bison set a new Nichols record on Sept. 28 in a win over Babson College as they shot nine under par at Webster-Dudley Golf Course.
