Bison End Season With 67-57 Loss At Endicott in CCC Quarterfinals

Box Score The 2006-07 season came to a close for the Nichols men's basketball team as it fell 67-57 at Endicott in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday night. The Bison held a two point lead at halftime but were out-scored 46-34 by the Gulls in the second half. Nichols ends the season 14-11 overall after winning nine of its last 11 games of the regular season. Freshman Ryan Wilcox (West Granby, CT), the CCC Co-Rookie of the Year, led the Bison with 15 points while junior Ron Powers (Millville, MA) added 11.

Nichols held a 12 point lead at one point in the first half but Endicott ended the half with a 14-4 drive to get to within two, 23-21. The Gulls went on to extend that drive in the second half, grabbing a 14 point lead, 50-36, with 8:07 left. The Bison were held to just one field goal in the first 12 minutes of the half. A lay-up by Graham Whitelaw with 2:38 left gave Endicott its largest lead of the game, 61-44. Nichols got the lead down to single digits but it was too little too late as the Gulls iced the win at the line. They shot 60 percent in the second half to Nichols 30 percent. Overall the Bison were held to 28 percent for the game.

Junior captain Chris Vallee (Fitchburg, MA) was held to just 2-15 shooting for eight points along with eight rebounds on the night. Freshman Chris Paquin (Barre, MA) recorded nine points and five rebounds. The Gulls dominated the boards 46-34. Endicott had a well-balanced attack with four players posting double-figures led by Joey Burgos' 12 points off 5-7 shooting.
