Bison End Season with 7-2 Loss to Curry in ECAC Northeast Quarterfinals

The Bison end the year 13-11-2 overall and 8-6-1 in conference play.

Box Score The 2006-07 season came to a close for the seventh-seeded Nichols men's hockey team on Saturday as it fell by a score of 7-2 to second-seeded Curry in the ECAC Northeast Quarterfinals. The Bison end the year 13-11-2 overall and 8-6-1 in conference play.

Nichols took an early 1-0 lead when sophomore Jeff Bieber (Littleton, CO) netted his tenth goal of the season off passes from sophomore Kyle Cook (Chino Hills, CA) and freshman Eric Cremer (Chelsea, MI). Just over six minutes later, Curry tied the score and went into the locker room with a 2-1 lead with another goal just two seconds before the end of the first period.

The Colonels extended their lead to 3-1 4:28 into the second period as the Bison failed to get on the board. Curry then went on to seal the victory for four goals in the third period, including one short-handed. Cremer scored from senior Jason Arrighie (Cranston, RI) with 5:26 left to play but it was too little too late.

Sophomore Keith Fink (Easton, MD) recorded 31 saves in the loss. He closes the year with a 11-7-1 record and 514 saves for a 4.10 goals against average and a .874 save percentage.

Sophomore Anthony Monte (Chicago, IL) led the team in scoring for the second-straight year with 26 goals and 11 assists for 37 points. Cook was second with 18 goals and 15 assists for 33 points. Freshman Zeke Costello (Shelby Township, MI) broke the Nichols single season assist record with a league-leading 29 on the year.
