Bison Remain Undefeated with 4-2 Win over Colby

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Nichols College men's ice hockey team scored a pair of shorthanded goals to defeat Colby College in Day One of the Bowdoin-Colby Faceoff Classic on Saturday at Dayton Arena. The Bison remain unbeaten at 6-0-1 this season while the Mules drop to 1-2-0 with the non-conference loss.

Colby took the early lead Saturday, scoring just seven minutes into the game as senior defenseman Ryan Chrenek found the back of the net at 7:34. Nichols evened the score
just over seven minutes later as Eric Cremer found rookie John Haley for a shorthanded tally at 14:48. The Mules responded quickly as a power play goal from Arthur Fritch gave Colby a 2-1 advantage at the end of the first period.

The second period saw the Bison notch another shorthanded tally, courtesy of Colby Jones, and the game entered the final frame deadlocked at two apiece. The Bison then capped the comeback with a pair of third-period goals from Billy Sabia at 4:50 and John Haley at 12:48 to
seal the victory.

Nichols netminder Keith Fink was outstanding, stopping 32 shots between the pipes for the Bison. Colby's Dean Feole made 21 saves for the Mules. Colby went 1-for-10 on the power play while Nichols was 0-for-7

Colby will host the U.S. Under-18 National team in Waterville on Sunday, in Day Two of the Faceoff Classic. Nichols will play Bowdoin College, who defeated the National Team 3-1 on Saturday.
