Brewster, Mass.- The Nichols men's golf team placed eighth overall, its highest finish in history, at the 2007 NEIGA Championship held at Captains Golf Course Oct. 21-23. The Bison totaled a 624 as they shot a 307 in round one and a 317 in round two. The University of Rhode Island took first place with a 600 while the University of Connecticut placed second with a 608. Bryan University rounded out the top three with a 614. Among Division II & III schools, Nichols finished fifth.
Leading the way for the Bison was junior Chris Brock (Pomfret Center, Conn), who kept his eighth place finish (tie) from yesterday. Brock shot a two over par 74 on Monday and a five over par 77 today. Sophomore Pat Pio (Somers, Conn) tied for 15th overall as he shot a four over par 76 on both days. Senior Nick Reinert (Cromwell, Conn.) tied for 28th overall with his two day total of 155. Junior Chris Healy (Charlton, Mass.) and sophomore Shawn Santos (Agawam, Mass.) both tied for 128th out of the 211 total competitors with scored of 167.
