WORCESTER, Mass.-
The Nichols College field hockey team earned its tenth win of the year, 3-2, over host Worcester State College on Wednesday in non-conference action. The Bison are now 7-1 in non-conference play this season while their ten wins are the most since 1997. The team's 10-3 start is also now the best start ever in the program's 29 year history. Freshman Eileen Clinton (Londonderry, N.H.) scored back-to-back goals late in the first half to give Nichols the lead for good as neither team scored in the second half.

Freshman Samantha Lacerra (Watertown, Mass.) put the Bison up 1-0 8:17 into the game with her ninth goal of the season. Worcester State then scored two goals within a ten minute span to grab a 2-1 lead. Clinton tied things up at 2-2 with 11:14 left until halftime and went on to score what proved to be the game-winning goal 8:33 later. She now has nine goals on the season.

In net, sophomore MaryKate Bednarz (Springfield, Mass.) recorded seven saves, including six in the second half. The Bison will return to conference action on Saturday at first place Gordon. Nichols is currently tied for third in the standing with the top six teams advancing to the playoffs.
