Al Kubicki

Al Kubicki enters his eighth season as head coach of the men's golf team at Nichols. No stranger to Nichols College Athletics, he served as the head men's ice hockey coach for the Bison from 1970-1978.

In 2010, Kubicki’s lineup claimed Nichols third CCC Championship and place third at the ECAC D-III New England Championship. The squad also took home three regular season invitational titles on the year.

Kubicki’s team won the Commonwealth Coast Conference title in 2007, and followed with the program’s first NEIGA Division III title in 2008. Pat Pio ’10 claimed individual titles at the 2007 and 2009 CCC Championships, as well as at the 2009 ECAC DIII Championship. Pio was named a PING All-American in 2009, the first in any sport at Nichols in over five years. Pio also earned the distinction of being named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.

In addition to coaching the Nichols hockey team, Kubicki was a goalie coach at Holy Cross from 1979-80 and an assistant coach at Shrewsbury High School from 1981-89. He began his golf coaching career in 1980 with a five-year stint as the head coach of the Burncoat High School co-ed golf team. He then moved on to become head coach at Doherty Memorial High School from 1987-2004.

A member of the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Advisory Board, Kubicki earned his Bachelors and Masters Degrees in engineering from Fitchburg State in 1968 and 1972, respectively. He taught in the Worcester Public School system for 37 years prior to his retirement in 2004. He currently resides in Oxford, Mass., and Boynton Beach, Fla.
