Tim Howard

Tim Howard begins his 10th season at the helm of the Nichols men's golf program, and second with the women's team in 2024-25.

To lead off the men's season in 2024-25, Howard helped guide the Bison to a 2nd place finish at the University of Southern Maine Husky Invitational, where the team finished 20-over par through the single round event. Individually, graduate student Luke Sargent tied for runner up in the tournament, shooting a career-low 72 (E) to top a list of three Bison in the tournament top-10. As the season progressed into the spring, the Bison men also claimed a 4th place finish at the St. Joseph's - Long Island Invitational in Bellport, New York, which came as their second best performance on the year behind a team score of 626 (+31) through two rounds, and a top-10 finish from graduate student Jake Goldberg with a 153 (+11).

On the women's side in 2024-25, Howard and the Bison kicked off the fall with a runner-up finish at the Keene State College Invitational, where they combined to score 146 (+74) through the solo round, with Kaitlin Baca (+15), Isabella Fleury (+15), and Maya Orbegozo (+18) each finishing in the top-10 individually. The Bison also made an appearance at the 2024 NEIGA Championship in Brewster, Massachusetts, where the team finished 7th out of 11 participating programs with a two-round score of 778 (+202), once more led by freshman Isabella Fluery at 178 (+34) for a 20th individual finish.

Since his first year on The Hill, Howard has helped coach 23 total All-Commonwealth Coast Conference performers, including a two-time CCC Player of the Year in Colby Mitchell, CCC Rookies of the Year Patrick Hesseltine (2016-17) and Cameron Desante (2022-23), and CCC Scholar Athlete of the Year Colin Whitney (2015-16). Throughout his tenure, he has also led the Bison men to three runner-up finishes in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, with the women set to make their Conference of New England debut in 2025-26.

Howard played four years of golf at the Division III level, first at Nichols (2006-07) and later at Worcester State (2007-10). He eventually graduated from Worcester State with a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus in health education, and served as the president of Eta Sigma Gamma – the institution’s Health Honor Society – while being named to the Dean’s List six times. In 2011, he was named the recipient of the Worcester State University Community Service Award.

Currently a seventh-grade teacher at Dudley Middle School, Howard spent three years as an instructor at Dudley Hill Junior Golf Camp. Most recently, he served as the head coach of the Dudley Middle School baseball and boys soccer teams, as well as the head coach of the Shepherd Hill freshmen girls team. Howard has also coached boys soccer and men’s basketball at Tantasqua Junior H.S. (2011-12) and baseball at Charlton Middle School (2010-11).
