DUDLEY, Mass. (Feb. 3) – Eight members of the Nichols College football team have been named to the 2011 New England Football Conference All-Academic Team, it was announced recently. Four honorees were named to the squad for the third time, one earned the honor for the second time, and three were first-time selections.

Brandon Haddad,
Christopher Kerrigan and
Alex Tavares were three-time honorees. Senior
John Zona was named to the team for the second time after honors in 2009. Juniors
David Gonzalez and
Jacob Shoup and sophomore
Michael Merjuste were first-time honorees.
Eight different majors were represented across Nichols' honorees, running the gamut of the College's offerings from information technology management to criminal justice management; from international business to sport management. Crory headlined the honorees with a dual major in business management and accounting.
A total of 214 student-athletes from 16 institutions earned a spot on the 2011 NEFC All-Academic Team. To qualify for the team a player must have completed three semesters at the same institution with a cumulative of 3.0 or better grade point average (based on a 4.0 scale).
