SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 4) -- Nichols College junior catcher Chelsea Correia (Seekonk, Mass.) has been named the The Commonwealth Coast Conference Softball Player of the Week for play ending Sunday, May 1, it was announced Monday. Correia anchored her team in a twinbill sweep of Eastern Nazarene, clinching the #3 seed and a spot in the double elimination phase of the upcoming TCCC tournament.

She batted 4-for-6 (.667), knocking in three runs with a double and two home runs, including a walk-off shot to win the opening game in the bottom of the seventh. Correia also crossed the plate three times herself, and went 2-for-2 in stolen bases after missing the previous three games with injury.

Nichols will face fifth-seeded Roger Williams in the elimination round of the TCCC Tournament Thursday at 2:30 at Gordon.
