Four members of the Nichols College men's tennis team have been named 2010 ITA Scholar-Athletes, it was announced recently by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Kevin Pittz '10 (Delmar, N.Y.), along with sophomores Stephen Carella (Rocky Hill, Conn.), Daniel Saucier (Newington, Conn.) and Eliot Wuhrmann (Fontainbleau, France) were awarded the national academic honor.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Nichols set the program record for wins in 2010 with a 17-6 record and the Bison's first The Commonwealth Coast Conference semifinal berth since 2004. Seven players were named All-TCCC, including Carella and Wurhmann.
