SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Feb. 23) – Nichols College juniors Jessica Nelson (No. Providence, R.I.) and Ashley Robidoux (Milford, Mass.) have been named to the 2009-2010 All-The Commonwealth Coast Conference Women's Basketball Third Team, it was announced Tuesday. The award marks the second of Nelson's career, and the first for Robidoux.
Nelson, a forward, started all 24 games and led the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.9 points and 7.3 boards per game, ranking her fourth in the TCCC in scoring average. Her 52.8% average from the floor led the team and ranked second in the conference. Nelson was named the TCCC and ECAC DIII New England Player of the Week and to the d3hoops.com National Team of the Week in early December after averaging 25 points, nine rebounds and three assists in a pair of overtime wins. She scored 20+ points on seven occasions, including three-straight games early in the season. Nelson was previously named All-TCCC in 2009, earning a spot on the Honorable Mention Team.
Robidoux was a starting guard in all 24 games this season, averaging 14.3 points per game. She led the team with 74 assists and ranked second in the conference with an 86.5% free-throw percentage (96-111). Her performance beyond the arc ranked fourth in the TCCC, both in three-pointers made (50) and percentage (40.3%). Robidoux scored over 20 points on three occasions, including a career-high 31 against Connecticut College in late November when she was 6-of-8 from three-point range and 7-of-11 at the line en route to TCCC and ECAC DIII New England Player of the Week honors.
Nichols finished the season with a 12-12 overall record and a 5-8 TCCC ledger. The Bison posted a 6-3 record on their home court.
