SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Apr. 24) – First-year Brett Jackson has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Baseball Rookie of the Week for his performance during the week ending April 22, 2012, it was announced Tuesday morning by the league office.
 
The outfielder went 8-for-15 (.533) at the plate last week to go along with nine runs scored, five stolen bases and three runs driven in. Jackson drew an RBI walk to make it a 10-7 ballgame before scoring on the two-run single by Cody Jankins as the Bison rallied from a 10-3 deficit in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with a win and a sweep of Eastern Nazarene on Saturday.
 
Jackson began the week in the nightcap at Gordon as the rookie batted .500 with a double and a run scored. He followed up with a 2-for-2 day at the dish as he drew a free pass, scored twice and swiped two bases against Springfield. On Thursday, Jackson stole two more bases as he reached twice in four at-bats, driving in a run and scoring twice. In the opening game on Saturday, the outfielder again went 2-for-4 as he touched home three times and stole one bag.
 
Nichols (8-18, 5-9 CCC) begins a three-game non-conference tour of the Worcester area this afternoon as the Bison have a 4:00 p.m. appointment with Becker at Rochdale Park in Leicester.
